Read-a-Thon 2023


Silver Springs School in partnership with the School Council, is launching a fun way to enjoy reading together over the Teachers’ Convention and Family Day long weekend to: 

  • Promote literacy both at school and at home

  • Explore new stories and a love of reading

  • Engage students and families

  • Help raise money for school initiatives, such as residencies, special events, and a proposed outdoor learning space

About the Event:

February 15: Kick-off day with “Dress-up As Your Favorite Book Character”. Students are invited to come to school dressed as a book character. We encourage students to bring along their favorite book as well.

February 15: Students will have the opportunity to choose a book to take home, from a selection of donated books.

February 15-22: At home, collect pledges and read along with Read-a-thon Bingo. Sheets are included and available on the School Council website

February 21-23: Stop-Drop-and-Read at school each day

February 23: Celebrate the end of this fundraising event with our Winter Family Literacy Night at the school from 5:00-6:30pm

How to Pledge

Email money transfer - can be sent directly to sssparentcouncil@gmail.com password Reading

Cheques - payable to Silver Springs School Parent Association (SSSPA).

Cash - can be collected by student and delivered to the office in the envelope provided.

Lump sum - Pledge forms do not need to be completed. The family can collect all funds and then send one email transfer to sssparentcouncil@gmail.com password Reading

Pledge forms & donations need to be handed in by February 23.
